Hey! My beauties,
Welcome to my beauty diary, in this, I will be discussing complete self-care from top-to-toe in each upcoming blogs. So, let's start from our topmost beauty i.e. hair. Everyone, whether its male or female adore their hair but only adoring it, is not enough. Our hair needs all our attention and care exactly like skin. So, here are some basic and affordable tips for caring for your hair. I have divided the hair care routine into 4 segments i.e. day, night, week, month.
Let's start with the first segment of routine that is- DAY TIME
1. Open your braid - After getting up, open your braid and tie it as a bun, so that hair will not disturb you during morning routines by coming on the face, and also it will help to set your hair together with by bringing it back to its normal texture.
2. Nutrients uptake - Before getting to bed; soak some resin and 2-3 almonds in water. When you get up the next day after brushing your teeth immediately eat this soaked raisin, almond, and also 3-4 dates ( intake should be before breakfast).
- Raisin - They're full of biotin that promotes hair growth and scalp health.
- Almonds- Almonds are full of essential vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin E, Vitamin B1, and Vitamin B6 that helps in making your hair long and strong. The high amount of magnesium they contain promotes hair growth.
- Dates - Dates can give you results for stronger hair in a short amount of time. Being rich in iron, dates improve blood circulation to the scalp which helps in faster hair growth.
The second segment- NIGHT TIME
1. Comb your hair before going to bed - Never, ever forget to comb your hair before going to bed. Brushing hair stimulates the capillaries of the scalp, increasing blood circulation and the transport of oxygen and nutrients to the hair follicles hence makes your hair soft, strengthens the roots. Also, there is one more reason which I heard from my mom and grandmother that brushing your hair every night removes the dirt, grease, etc. which have stuck in your scalp due to pollution.
Pro tip:
- Always start combing from scalp to roots.
- Paddle brush or Quill brush is best to use as these stimulate the blood circulation and also distribute natural hair oils over the scalp.

2. Always tie loose braid - After completing step 1, it is important to tie hair in a loose braid as it will prevent your hair from damaging due to friction during sleeping.
Pro tip:
- Never tie up the tight braid as it could be harsh on your hair roots and also loose braid will help the drying up of all-day sweat in the scalp. The dry scalp will prevent any fungal attack.
The Third segment - WEEK
1. Oiling hair - Most of the people hate this step. Oiling hair is a crucial step and it comes under the week routine segment because oiling is not done every day. Do oiling at least twice a week, one day before your happy head washing day. Always apply oil on your scalp and massage for around 10-15 minutes this will increase the blood circulation in scalp capillaries.
Pro tip:
- I saw many recommendations, not to oil your hair lengths because oiling affects only from roots, not from the lengths. But this is my personal experience that oiling lengths made my hair more soft and shiny whereas not oiling makes them dry and frizzy.
- You can tie up your head with hair wrapper or by any cotton cloth all night it will help you in deep oiling the scalp.
2. Shampoo and conditioning - Always wash your hair twice a week or thrice according to the activeness of oil glands of your scalp. Use mild shampoo with less fragrance and according to your hair type.
Never apply conditioner on your scalp it is only and only meant for your hair lengths.
Pro tip:
- Always take the appropriate amount of conditioner on your palm and apply it in lengths in a vertical motion. Never rub your lengths horizontally as it will create friction and ultimately leads to frizziness.
- Apply serum or 2-3 drops of normal hair oil on damp hair, this will make your hair soft, supple and shiny.
3. Hair mask - A hair mask is a deep conditioning treatment that helps to heal damaged hair. This is an add on profit for the goodness of your hair. After shampooing hair, apply a hair mask and leave it for some time ( follow time limit of product given in label) then after washing it away, go for conditioning.
Pro tip:
- Never apply to your roots or scalp.
- You can also leave it overnight but always read the instruction on the product label before use.

Fourth segment - MONTH
1. Steaming - Its an amazing thing you can do for your hair. Before telling how you can steam your hair in the home, let me first tell about its benefit -
- Steaming helps the oil to get absorbed deep into the scalp and lock in the moisture- so right after oiling, you can go for 10 min steaming session.
- Steaming helps to clear the scalp so, any debris or dead skin is removed.
- It also opens the pores which in turn helps in unclogging them and getting rid of any dirt and dandruff caused by bacteria.
How to steam at home - Take a container filled with hot water. Dip a cotton towel or cloth in it then take out and try to squeeze a little ( as it is hot so it will be difficult to squeeze completely) and wrap your head with that, put it until your scalp stops feeling warm then repeat the process again. Do it for 10 min. Steam at least twice a month.

2. Hair trim - Regular haircuts help keep your hair strong and healthy. Long hair should be trimmed at least 2-3 months. If there are more breakage and split ends, then you can cut as frequently as every 1-2 months.
So, Yes my gals! that was all about the basic hair care routine you can do in your home for gaining good, healthy, and shiny hair. All the tips mentioned above are tried and tested by myself.
